Red Nose day cupcakes

Use the 6 inch round quantity on our Red Velvet recipe card to make 10 – 12 cupcakes.

Follow these simple steps for decorating your Red Nose Cupcakes….

Roll out white sugarpaste to a thickness of approximately 5mm. Using a circle cutter the same size as the cupcake, cut out a disk of paste. Stick the disk of icing to the cupcake using piping jelly.

Cut 2 smaller circles of white icing, 2 very small circles of black icing and 1 larger circle of red icing. Use edible glue to stick in place and form a face. Using the smile tool, gently push the curved end of the tool into the icing to make a mouth.

Roll out white sugarpaste to a thickness of approximately 5mm. Using Press Ice Polka 1, gently push into the rolled out paste to mark evenly spaced dots. Place the paste under a stay fresh mat whilst you prepare the red icing.

Roll out red sugarpaste to approximately 3mm thick and using a circle plunger cutter, cut lots of small red dots. Place these on top of the dots on the white icing. Place stay fresh mat over the top and roll over firmly with a small rolling pin to blend the 2 pastes together. Turn the paste 45 degrees and roll again to even the dots out.

Use a circle cutter to cut a disk of spotty paste and secure on the cupcake with piping jelly.

Roll a ball of red paste to approximately 3cm diameter. Place in a cake box lid and spray with edible clear glaze spray. Sprinkle red edible glitter over and then re-glaze with the spray to seal.

Using a 1M nozzle and piping bag, pipe buttercream onto the cupcake in a continuous swirl (or spread the buttercream if preferred) and place glittery red nose in the middle.

Roll a ball of red paste to approximately 3cm in diameter. Make 2 indentations for the eyes. Roll 2 small balls of white paste and glue into the indents, using edible glue. Roll 2 even smaller balls of black and glue onto the white. Make the nose with a further smaller ball of red paste and use the smile tool to form a mouth.

Using a 1M nozzle and piping bag, pipe buttercream onto the cupcake in a continuous swirl (or spread the buttercream if preferred) and place the red nose in the centre.
